Aberdeen appoint Robinson as new manager

Aberdeen have confirmed the appointment of Stephen Robinson as their new first-team manager following his departure from St Mirren.

Aberdeen have appointed Stephen Robinson as their new manager on a contract until June 2028. Robinson leaves his position at St Mirren to succeed interim manager Peter Leven at Pittodrie. The Northern Irishman guided St Mirren to a top-six finish in the Scottish Premiership last season and secured European qualification for the Paisley club, per Sky Sports.

The move comes despite previous indications that Aberdeen would wait until the summer to make a permanent appointment. Robinson brings significant experience in Scottish football, having previously managed Motherwell and taken them to two domestic cup finals. He also had a spell in the English Football League with Morecambe before returning to Scotland in 2022.

Aberdeen currently sit in the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership table following a difficult campaign. The club board acted now to allow Robinson time to assess the squad before the summer transfer window, according to The Guardian. St Mirren confirmed they received an agreed compensation package for the 51-year-old coach.
