Heart of Midlothian's initial offer for French midfielder Laurent Mendy was turned down by National League club Forest Green Rovers.

Hearts have had a bid for Forest Green Rovers midfielder Laurent Mendy rejected. The Scottish Premiership club submitted an offer for the 28-year-old French player, but the National League side declined it on Tuesday.

Heart of Midlothian is looking to bolster its midfield options after Cammy Devlin sustained an injury, ruling the Australian out for six to eight weeks. Mendy, who serves as Forest Green's interim captain, has been a crucial figure for his club this season. He has played every eligible minute of league football, contributing to their current fifth-place position in the National League.

The versatile midfielder, capable of playing right-back, centre-back, or in central midfield, joined Forest Green in the summer. He previously helped Macclesfield FC win promotion to level six of the English football pyramid. Hearts are currently assessing their options following the rejected bid.
