Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane will miss Friday's Bundesliga match against Borussia Monchengladbach due to a calf injury.

Harry Kane is ruled out of Bayern Munich's home match against Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday. The England captain sustained a calf injury during training on Wednesday, according to a club statement. Medical staff at the Sabener Strasse facility confirmed the striker requires a period of rest and rehabilitation.

Kane has started every league game for the German champions since the beginning of the current campaign. His absence ends a run of 24 consecutive Bundesliga appearances this season. The forward has scored 27 goals in those fixtures, per official Bundesliga statistics. Thomas Tuchel stated the injury is not thought to be long-term, but Kane remains a doubt for the upcoming Champions League tie.

Mathys Tel or Thomas Muller could deputise in the central attacking role for the match at the Allianz Arena. Bayern currently occupy second place in the table, trailing leaders Bayer Leverkusen by four points. Monchengladbach sit in 12th position following their 1-1 draw with Mainz last weekend, according to Sky Sports.
