Kettering Town await first home match of 2026

Football

Southern League Premier Division Central side Kettering Town hope to play their first home game of the year following pitch issues.

Kettering Town aim to end a 73-day period without a home fixture today. The Poppies last played at Latimer Park on 20 December 2025, according to the Southern Football League. A series of postponements caused by a waterlogged pitch prevented the club from hosting matches throughout January and February.

Ground staff worked to prepare the surface for the scheduled visit of Stourbridge. The club previously moved a home tie against Royston Town to an alternative venue to fulfill fixtures, per the Northants Telegraph. Persistent rain in Northamptonshire led to six consecutive home match cancellations over ten weeks.

Kettering currently sit in the play-off positions despite the fixture congestion, according to league standings. The club confirmed that additional drainage work took place during the extended break. Manager Richard Lavery expressed hope that the surface would pass a final inspection. If the game proceeds, it will mark the first time the supporters have seen the team at home in 2026.
