Leicester City have recruited James McCarron from the City Football Group to lead a restructure of the club's football operations.

Leicester City have appointed James McCarron as their new sporting director. McCarron joins the club from the City Football Group, where he previously served as the head of football operations for the organisation. This appointment forms part of a wider restructure of the senior leadership team at the King Power Stadium, according to Sky Sports.

McCarron succeeds Jon Rudkin, who leaves the role after more than 10 years in the position. Rudkin oversaw the recruitment for the Premier League title-winning side in 2016 and the FA Cup victory in 2021. The club confirmed the changes take effect immediately as they seek to modernise their recruitment and scouting networks, per The Athletic.

Leicester currently sit in 15th place in the Premier League table following their recent 1-1 draw against Everton. The new sporting director will oversee all aspects of the first-team squad, the academy, and the recruitment department. He is expected to begin work on the club's strategy for the upcoming summer transfer window, according to The Guardian.
