Paraag Marathe and Gene Schneur have stepped down as directors of Rangers Football Club. Marathe, who also serves as the chairman of Leeds United, relinquished his position as vice-chair at Ibrox. Schneur likewise departed his role on the board. The resignations follow new regulations regarding multi-club ownership, according to an official statement from Rangers.
The changes ensure compliance with governing body rules that restrict individuals from holding influential positions at more than one club simultaneously. Marathe originally joined the board in 2021 as part of an investment by 49ers Enterprises, the group that owns Leeds United. Schneur had served as a director since the same period, per Sky Sports.
Rangers confirmed that both men remain supportive of the club despite their formal departures from the boardroom. The Glasgow club stated that the moves are necessary to satisfy strict governance standards. No immediate successors for the vacant board positions have been named by the Scottish Premiership side, according to The Athletic.
