Liverpool midfielder Denise O'Sullivan has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland's match against the Netherlands on Saturday.

Denise O'Sullivan will miss the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands in Utrecht. The Liverpool midfielder suffered an injury during a recent club fixture, according to the Football Association of Ireland. This absence follows a scan that confirmed she is unavailable for the match on 7 March.

Eileen Gleeson, the Ireland head coach, has not named a direct replacement in the squad for the trip to the Galgenwaard Stadium. Ireland currently sit in second place in the qualifying group after four matches, per the FAI. The team travelled to the Netherlands on Friday without the experienced playmaker.

O'Sullivan joined Liverpool in the recent transfer window and has started every league game since her arrival. Club medical staff will assess the 32-year-old upon her return to Merseyside, according to Liverpool FC. The Netherlands currently lead the qualifying group and defeated Ireland 2-0 in the previous meeting between the two nations last October, per UEFA.
