Police Scotland confirmed they are investigating multiple incidents of disorder during the Glasgow derby on March 8. Officers arrested five men, aged between 16 and 32, in connection with breach of the peace and the use of pyrotechnics. One police officer required medical treatment for a head injury after being struck by a missile thrown from the stands, per Sky Sports.
Following the match, Celtic issued a statement claiming several of their supporters and staff were targeted by missiles, including bottles and coins. Rangers also reported incidents of objects being thrown into the away section. Both clubs are working with the police to identify those involved using CCTV footage from the stadium, according to The Guardian.
The Scottish Professional Football League is expected to review the match delegate's report before deciding on further action. Current league rules allow for fines or partial stadium closures if clubs fail to manage supporter conduct. Both Glasgow clubs stated they will issue lifetime bans to any season ticket holders found guilty of violent behaviour.
