Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior justified making nine changes to his starting line-up after a narrow 1-0 win against 10-man Wrexham.

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior defended his decision to heavily rotate his squad following a 1-0 victory over Wrexham in the FA Cup fifth round. According to The Guardian, the head coach made nine changes for the tie at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The hosts secured their place in the quarter-finals through a second-half goal from Noni Madueke after Wrexham defender Eoghan O'Connell received a red card.

Rosenior acknowledged the risks of such a strategy but emphasised the need to manage player workloads during a congested fixture schedule. Per Sky Sports, he stated that the rotation was necessary to maintain freshness for upcoming Premier League matches. Despite the numerical advantage, the home side struggled to break down the League One visitors until the closing stages of the match.

Chelsea now progress to the last eight of the competition as they seek their first domestic trophy under Rosenior. Wrexham exits the tournament having reached the fifth round for the first time in 27 years, according to ESPN reporting.
