Football

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has placed striker Joao Pedro in the same category as elite forwards Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

Liam Rosenior praised the Brazil international following his hat-trick in a 4-1 victory against Aston Villa on Wednesday. The Chelsea head coach described the 24-year-old's performance as world-class, specifically highlighting his movement and positioning within the penalty area. According to Premier League data, the treble took Pedro's league tally to 14 goals this season.

Rosenior stated that the forward belongs in the same elite bracket as Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and Kylian Mbappe. Per Goal, only Haaland has recorded more non-penalty goals in the Premier League during the current 2025-26 campaign. The Brazilian arrived at Stamford Bridge from Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2025 for a fee of £60m.

The victory at Villa Park moved Chelsea into fifth place in the Premier League table. The club currently sits three points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa with nine matches remaining, according to official league standings. Chelsea next face Wrexham in the FA Cup on Saturday, 7 March.
