Arsenal and England defender Leah Williamson discussed her professional journey and interests outside of football in a recent interview.

England captain Leah Williamson revealed she previously considered leaving football during her teenage years. The Arsenal defender told presenter Kelly Somers that she informed her mother of her desire to stop playing at age 16. Williamson cited the pressure of the professional environment as a factor before ultimately continuing her career, according to The Guardian.

The 28-year-old also spoke about her life away from the sport. She highlighted her interest in fashion and her role as a guest editor for a lifestyle magazine, per Sky Sports. Williamson noted that having interests outside of the game helps her maintain a healthy balance and mental well-being.

Since making that decision to stay, Williamson has earned more than 40 caps for the Lionesses. She led England to victory at the 2022 European Championship. The Milton Keynes-born player joined Arsenal at age nine and remains a central figure for both club and country, according to reports from The Athletic. Her current focus remains on the upcoming international fixtures.
